What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?
BCST
is a subtle, yet powerful artform of bodywork, which
supports the body's
innate ability to heal itself.
It involves gentle hands-on work which honors the
client's own self-healing process. The intention is
not to ‘fix’ problems, but rather encouraging
a re-orientation of body, mind and spirit.
Biodynamic Craniosacral
Therapy (BCST)
for Mothers and Babies
For Mothers
BCST can help with the bodily
changes of pregnancy. Old and new discomforts may
appear, which can be alleviated and released in order
for the mother's body to be in best condition for
the birth.
After birth, BCST can help as the mother's body returns
to its non-pregnant
condition. Particularly if the birth has been difficult
or there have been
complications and interventions, BCST will support
the process of integration, healing and recovery.
For Babies
An easy gestation and a
natural birth are the best start a baby can have in
the world. Unfortunately, not every birth is ideal
for a variety of reasons,
and even before birth a baby may have had difficult
experiences in the womb.
A baby's body is well designed to manage the range
of compressive forces
of a natural birth. However, prolonged forces, like
during a very long
labour or additional forces from forceps, vacuum extraction,
drugs, or a
caesarean birth can be harder for a baby to recover
from.
Biodynamic Craniosacral
Therapy will help a baby to release compressions and
come to a completion of natural processes that were
interfered with.
If a baby cries a lot, has constant digestive problems
or is generally
unhappy, there is usually a good reason.
Because the baby cannot speak, it is often difficult
to determine what the
cause might be.
Some babies express their need for help in a silent
way. The so-called ‘good
baby’ is mostly quiet, hardly ever cries, sleeps
a lot and is not responsive
– it has disappeared into its inner world.
If medical causes are ruled out, BCST is a good avenue
to explore.
The parents will see whether the treatment is making
a difference in their
baby's wellbeing and its state of ease and happiness.
How does a Biodynamic
Craniosacral session
look like?
After a short discussion
you will lie fully dressed on a treatment table. With
a light touch I will put my hands in different positions
on your body and you will probably perceive some subtle
sensations. Usually the treatment is very relaxing.
Our appointment will last 60 - 90 mins. and ideally
you have some quiet time afterwards. It is also recommended
that you drink plenty of water.
Before you make an appointment for your baby we need
to have a discussion about the birth experience; this
can take place either on the phone or in a face-to-face
meeting.
